STORM PREPARATION
August 13, 2004
The risk of damage to your boat, if it remains docked at our marina, is very high during a storm. In addition, if your boat remains docked in its slip, there is a high likelihood of damage to the slip. For these reasons, and consistent with section 10 of your Dockage Agreement with HYY, we must advise you to remove your boat from the marina if you can do so safely and if you can find a location where you feel your boat will be better protected.
In the interest of your personal safety, if you are going to move your boat you should do so as soon as possible.
If you choose to disregard this warning, you do so at your own risk. HYY will try to check on any boats which remain in our marina during the storm, but conditions may make it impossible for us to take any action to avoid or minimize the damage to your boat or our piers.
The following storm procedures will help minimize potential damage to your vessel:
Ø Remove all canvas and sails and store below.
Ø Double all lines and leave enough slack in them for storm surge.
Leave extra lines in cockpit for emergency back up.
Ø Unhook shore power cords and store below.
Ø Anything that is loose should be secured or stored below.
Ø Remove dinghies stored on deck or from davits. Tie down dinghies on racks.
Ø The electricity will be turned off before the docks become submerged.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
