Loyal to quality craftsmanship and friendly service, Hartge Yacht Yard is one of the oldest family-operated boat yards operating in the Unites States.

Founder Emile Alexander Hartge, a piano builder, moved to Whitestake Point in Galesville in 1865 from Shady Side, across the West River where the Hartge Brothers had built pianos for over 40 years. Emile Hartge became a proficient boat builder and along with his sons, established Hartge Yacht Yard.

Alex Schlegel, the current owner and Company President, is named after Emile A. Hartge, his great-grandfather. Alex along with his youngest son, Xan Schlegel, continue the Hartge boat building legacy and remain true to placing the client at the heart of the business.
